These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Celestash (“Celestash,” “the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and any license you buy for it. By installing, buying or using Celestash, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install, buy or use the App.

1. What Celestash does

Celestash is a Windows desktop app that helps you save, organize, search and reuse your clipboard history. It can store copied text, links, code, colors, images, file references, text recognized in images (OCR) and related metadata locally on your PC.

You use Celestash through the Island and Shelf at the top of your screen, Quick Paste, the Library window, keyboard shortcuts and the Windows system tray. Features include search, favorites, pinned clips, Sets (including nested Sets), Multi-Clip Copy, Inline Shortcuts, Clip Reminders, drag & drop and paste into the last app you used. The Island can also show media that is playing on your PC and control playback.

Features may change, improve or be removed over time.

2. Local-first app

Celestash is designed to work locally on your PC. Your clipboard history and related app data are stored on your device, in Celestash's local app data storage in your Windows user profile.

Celestash does not provide user accounts, cloud sync, cloud backup or server-side clipboard storage. The App connects to the internet to activate and check your license with our licensing provider, Polar.

You are responsible for the security, backups and access controls of your own PC.

3. License

Subject to these Terms and a valid license key, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Celestash on up to the number of Windows devices included in the plan you bought (1, 2 or 3 devices).

To use a license on another PC when all your devices are in use, deactivate one of your existing devices in Settings first.

Keep your license key secure. You may not share, sell, rent, sublicense, publish, distribute or otherwise make your license key available to others. [CONFIRM: personal vs. commercial use, and whether license keys may be transferred]

We may suspend, revoke or restrict a license key if we reasonably believe it has been shared, abused, obtained fraudulently, used in violation of these Terms, or used to get around licensing restrictions.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where applicable law allows it.

5. Clipboard content and sensitive information

While it is running, Celestash monitors the Windows clipboard and saves what you copy to your local history.

Clipboard content can include sensitive or personal information, such as passwords, credentials, financial details, messages or other people's data. You are solely responsible for deciding whether Celestash is appropriate for you, especially if you handle confidential, regulated, financial, medical, legal, work-related or third-party data. You can delete clips you don't want to keep at any time.

6. Images, OCR, files and permissions

Images. Images you copy, and image files you copy or drop onto the Shelf, are saved in Celestash's local storage so they can be previewed and reused.

OCR. Celestash uses the OCR engine built into Windows to read text in images on your PC, so you can search and copy it. OCR results may be incomplete or inaccurate. They are not guaranteed and should not be relied on where accuracy is critical, such as for medical, legal or financial purposes.

Files. For files you copy in File Explorer, Celestash stores their names and paths, not their contents. If a file is moved or deleted, the clip may stop working.

Celestash does not acquire any ownership of or rights to your content, images or files. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to store, process and reuse the content you place in your clipboard and in Celestash.

7. Media controls and third-party content

Celestash can show and control media that is playing on your PC, such as Spotify, YouTube in your browser and local media players, using the playback information and controls that Windows makes available. You can play, pause, skip and seek from the Island.

Celestash does not provide, host or own any media content. You are responsible for complying with the terms of the media services and apps you use.

Media features depend on what each app shares with Windows, and may change or stop working if those apps or Windows change. Celestash is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Spotify, YouTube, Google, Microsoft or any other media provider.

8. Data retention and deletion

Celestash keeps your clipboard history on your PC until you delete it. You can delete individual clips in the App, and deactivate a PC to release its license seat.

Uninstalling the Microsoft Store version of Celestash removes its app data from your PC. [CONFIRM ON A RELEASE BUILD] Clips you have deleted, or that are removed when you uninstall the App, generally can't be recovered. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of anything important.

9. Purchases, license keys and refunds

Celestash licenses are sold as a one-time purchase through our payment and licensing provider, Polar. Purchases are not made through Microsoft Store billing. There is no subscription, recurring billing or free trial.

Lifetime license plans:

The launch price applies to the first 50 customers of each plan separately: up to 50 customers on the 1 Device plan, up to 50 on the 2 Devices plan and up to 50 on the 3 Devices plan. Once a plan's 50 launch-price spots are used, that plan is sold at its regular price. Prices are in US dollars, and taxes may be added at checkout. Later price changes do not affect licenses you have already bought.

After a successful purchase, Polar emails you a license key. You install Celestash from the Microsoft Store and enter the key in Celestash › Settings › License. The App checks your license with Polar from time to time and keeps working offline for a limited grace period between checks. 10. Microsoft Store distribution

Celestash is distributed through the Microsoft Store, which handles installation, package signing and updates. Your use of the Microsoft Store is governed by Microsoft's terms. We do not offer installer downloads from celestash.com.

Microsoft is not responsible for Celestash, its licenses or support. Questions about Celestash should be sent to us.

11. Updates and changes to the App

We may update, modify, improve, suspend or discontinue any part of Celestash at any time. Updates are delivered through the Microsoft Store.

We may add, remove or change features, supported content types, storage behavior, settings, pricing for future purchases, compatibility or availability.

We are not obligated to provide updates, maintenance or support, or to keep the App compatible with every past or future version of Windows. [MINIMUM WINDOWS VERSION]

12. Beta and early-access features

Some features may be released as beta, experimental, preview or early-access features. They may be incomplete, unstable or inaccurate, and may change or be removed without notice. You use them at your own risk.

13. Privacy

Your use of Celestash is also governed by our Privacy Policy. It explains how Celestash handles your local clipboard history, images, OCR text and media information, and the limited information that is sent to Polar for licensing.

14. No warranties

Celestash is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, security and reliability.

We do not guarantee that Celestash will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that it will work with every version of Windows or with every app or media service, or that your clipboard history, images, Sets, favorites or settings will never be lost or corrupted.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of Celestash. This includes loss of data, profits, business or goodwill, device issues, security incidents and unauthorized access.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Celestash will not exceed the amount you paid for your license. [CONFIRM LIABILITY CAP — legal review]

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from or related to:

You may stop using Celestash at any time.

We may suspend, revoke, terminate or restrict your license key or access to the App if you violate these Terms, misuse the App, share or abuse your license key, or try to get around licensing restrictions. [CONFIRM: what happens to existing licenses if the App is discontinued]

If your license key is suspended, revoked or deactivated, you may lose the ability to use the App.

Celestash relies on third-party services. These include Microsoft for distribution, Windows OCR and media controls, and Polar for payment processing, license keys, activation and the customer portal. Its media features work with third-party apps such as Spotify and YouTube.

Celestash is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by these companies. We are not responsible for their outages, errors, policies, processing delays or changes. Your use of third-party services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post changes on this page and update the effective date above. If we make material changes, we may also let you know through the App, on our website or by other reasonable means.

If you keep using Celestash after the updated Terms take effect, the updated Terms apply. Price changes never apply to licenses you have already bought.
